BROWN BESS CARBINE
By - Pedersoli

Between 1756 and 1813 the English “Board of Ordnance” required the production of shorter versions of the regular infantry musket. The barrel’s lengths varied from 26” to 37”, equipping the corps of the Dragoons, the Grenadiers, the Royal Horse-Guards and the Artillery, as well as some volunteers corps. Our reproduced carbine is inspired by this series and keeps the same features of the Brown Bess, like the walnut stock oil finish and the satin finish of the barrel.

This .75 caliber Flintlock Musket has a barrel length of 30 1/2”, an overall length of 47 1/4” and weighs 7.94 lbs.

INDIAN TRADE MUSKET
By - Pedersoli

A model faithfully reflecting the type of rifles that since the late 1700s were used by the most well known trading companies (Northwest Co., Hudson’s Bay Co., American Fur Co.) for the trades with the American Indians and the white hunters. These guns showing the classical lines of the old European muskets produced both by European manufacturers and by the most well known American manufacturers, such as Leman, Henry, Tryon and Deringer. The snake shape decoration is enriched by engravings. The wood ramrod and the large trigger guard were typical features of these guns. Made with walnut stock and rust brown color barrel can compete in the clay pigeon target class in the Manton R discipline, or it can be used for general hunting, loading either shot or a round ball. The kit version is supplied with metallic nails to create drawings referred, for instance to the Sioux Lakota’s culture. The more frequent ornament was a circle with inside one cross to feature the “Medicine Wheel” or “The Sacre Life Circle” (Cangleska Wakan). It represents the harmony of the universe with the corps circular shape and their movement; the cross represents the unified four directions that support the creation structure, keeping it steady. The number four can refer to the Seasons, to the day’s phases of the man’s existence, the parts of a tree, or the human races.

1766 CHARLEVILLE

By - Pedersoli

In 1763 France adopted a new infantry musket, more strong than the previous one, to answer the needs of an accelerated fire coming from the war tactics developed during the Seven Years War. The new gun was found too heavy and was replaced after only three years by the 1766 Model, promoted by M. de Montbeillard, inspector of the Manufacturer of Saint-Etienne, built in more of 150,000 units until 1769. After this date it has been replaced by the Model 1770/71 and the muskets given back from the soldiers have been used in 1775 when the American Independence War started and France distributed numerous 1766 muskets to the troops of the new born United States of America.

The musket is produced in .69 caliber, with walnut stock.
