Our Powder Horns are made with the traditional methods of yesteryear. Each base plug is individually fitted just like the original Powder Horns and secured with brass pins to keep it water-tight. Each base plug has a hand forged staple for the strap. The base plug is even with the end of the horn making it easier to carry. Powder Horns vary in color from brown, dark brown to black and white. Large Standard Powder Horn has a solid brass pour spout installed in the tip. This spout has a 3/8" inside diameter, so even Fg powder pours like water. THE TREKKER POWDER HORN
This is an original design. The (medium) powder horn is 8 – 10 1/2 inches long, the (large) powder horn is 10 1/2 – 14″ long, as measured on the bottom curve. The horn is left in its natural state and highly polished. A black walnut base plug is affixed with a solid brass finial. Decorative flats adorn the tip where a 3/16″leather carrying strap attaches to the solid brass finial on the base plug. It now comes with a rosewood violin peg for a stopper.
